A partnership close to home
As the proportion of older people in the UK continues to rise, the quality of life and care experienced by care home residents is a growing concern.
There is a great deal of excellent practice in the care home sector, but this is often overshadowed by 'horror stories' in the media about poor levels of care.
My Home Life is a long-term programme aimed at improving quality of life in care homes, and establishing and communicating best practise. Working with care home proprietors, managers, staff, older residents and their families, My Home Life aims to change attitudes, change behaviour and change lives.

‘Making a difference requires developing excellent relationships. Our exciting partnership with BUPA allows us to nurture many relationships at all levels in order to give those who live and work in care homes a voice and to enhance their lives. This would impact on us all.’
Annie Stevenson, Senior Policy Advisor, Help the Aged |
BUPA is funding My Home Life as part of its commitment to supporting charitable programmes that have a synergy with its areas of business. BUPA’s support is allowing us to employ project workers, run focus and steering groups, organise conferences and eventually disseminate information and co-ordinate national awareness campaigns.
BUPA Care Home employees from all levels are actively involved in the partnership, sharing their knowledge and experiences and learning enthusiastically from the experiences of other partners.
