Help the Aged Corporate Team is brimming with enthusiasm, knowledge and ideas. With a wide range of experience in both commercial and charitable sectors, we drive all our corporate partnerships with creativity, dedication and passion. Our Corporate Partnerships team are always on the lookout for new partners. We relish the challenge of designing a bespoke partnership package, whatever your needs.
After working in both the commercial and charity sector, I bring a variety of skills to the organisation as well as enthusiasm and an ambition to ensure more success for the organisation. Apart from really enjoying my job, I am also a keen sportsman. I enjoy playing tennis on summer evenings, and following my beloved Liverpool FC, as well as regularly cycling to work in an attempt to keep fit throughout the year.
Being part of Help the Aged and the engage network is highly rewarding from one moment to the next. Working with such driven and talented people to bring the issues and demands of the ageing population to the business sector makes me believe that there can be few jobs as satisfying. In my spare time I am studying for a degree in Social Psychology and for some time now seem to be studying when I’m not working and working when I’m not studying. I would love to be listening to music or even watching films but I just can't remember which.
I joined Help the Aged from a background in sales and marketing, and manage our multifaceted partnership with HSBC as well as securing new accounts such as a sponsorship partnership with mysinglefriend.com It sounds clichéd, but knowing that everything I do during my working day is helping disadvantaged older people really floats my boat! I have a real passion for older people, and consider myself to be very lucky because I work with the best team in the world, and I love my job!
I became interested in working in the charity sector when I set up a small business providing education and training to children on the autistic spectrum. I had previously worked in sales and recruitment, where I developed a desire to enhance my business skills to help vulnerable people. After volunteering with a leading children's charity in order to gain some vital experience in fundraising, I have finally achieved my goal and am now working full-time with Help the Aged. When I'm not busy working I can be found in Brighton, soaking up the sun (when it decides to shine), playing my guitar and trying to put an all-conquering rock band together!
Working for Help the Aged is the start of a new and exciting career for me. Outside of work I volunteer for a women’s mental health charity, befriending a woman with mental health issues and raising funds for a development project. I love to eat well, and take advantage of all that London has to offer in terms of top notch restaurants. I also like to soak up the city's culture, going on guided walks through little-known streets. In winter I love curling up with a good book or film and visiting my parents for roast dinner and comforting pudding with lashings of custard.
Richard Howard - Corporate Executive, engage
I recently joined Help the Aged as an intern as part of my Sociology degree. I am currently working on the engage project as well as getting involved in other aspects of corporate fundraising, which I am finding fascinating. I chose to work at Help the Aged as I saw it as a great way to gain valuable experience in a high profile organisation and one that links in well to my degree course. I am heavily into sports and these range from tennis, snooker, basketball, table tennis, badminton and football. My musical tastes are rather diverse but the band of the minute for me has to be Muse after they rocked the new Wembley.
No day is ever the same at Help the Aged and there’s a great sense of team atmosphere here. People tend to go that little bit extra and push that little bit harder to improve things for disadvantaged older people. And in my case that meant sky-diving! Working in the New Business area gives me the chance to work with all kinds of companies and I really enjoy building relationships and being able to demonstrate the tangible benefits that companies can gain from working with Help the Aged.
My favourite music depends on my mood, but hand me a Norman Jay compilation and you're guaranteed to get my toe tapping! Account Management Team Our award-winning Account Management team drive some of the most successful and well-known partnerships within the corporate fundraising world. Their professionalism, ingenuity and ability to manage sizeable and hugely influential programmes never ceases to impress.
I manage our partnerships with Barclays and Zurich, both of whom are funding long-term programmes to help older people. Seeing first-hand some of the issues that older people face has made me committed to helping to resolve these issues - and is a real incentive to get out of bed in the morning! My favourite film is Legally Blonde.
I have joined Help the Aged to work on the Morrison's Charity of the Year partnership in conjunction with Childline. I'm really excited to be working on such a unique corporate partnership and look forward to raising stacks of money for disadvantaged older people. My working background is in both the corporate and charity sector and I spend the rest of my time going to gigs, snowboarding and travelling the world. Last summer I went to see orangutans in Borneo, I've spent time living in a little village in Nepal, and this year I'm off to visit the mountains of China!
I have previously worked in the creative industries in design, marketing and client service and joined Help the Aged because I am absolutely passionate about the cause. I currently manage British Gas, the charity’s most successful and long-running strategic partnership, along with Zurich, BUPA and Harrah’s, all of whom are funding long-term programmes to help disadvantaged older people. Working with our corporate clients enables me to utilise my business skills whilst helping to resolve serious issues which older people face on a daily basis. The team spirit here is very strong. We all have the same aim - to help older people. Outside of work, I like to travel as much as I can. Sports like squash, tennis and golf are key in my life although I no longer play competitively.
Coming from a recruitment background, Help the Aged represents a big change in environment for me, but a welcome one. I have already signed up to a fantastically exciting event at Help the Aged - I am cycling to Amsterdam in September! I come from a family of cyclists so they are really pleased that I have finally got the bug. We’ll see how pleased when the sponsorship form comes out! Despite having grown up in London I still love exploring the city as there are always winding alleys and hidden cafés to discover.
I really enjoy working for Help the Aged as the work is varied and the team are helpful and friendly. I've been involved in all sorts of activities from arranging cake sales to cheering on our marathon runners, and am now training to cycle from London to Amsterdam! My great passion is travelling and my aim is to see as much of the world as possible. According to an online questionnaire I've seen 6% of the world so I still have a long way to go! |
