Give more for your money
Payroll giving is a simple, tax-efficient easy way of donating to charity through your salary. Giving regularly through your pay allows Help the Aged to plan for your future and ensure we can help the people most in need now, and plan for everyone's future.
Frequently asked questions:
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. If you do not wish to receive any correspondence from Help the Aged, we will respect your wish. If however, you would like to become more involved with our work or receive information on how your money is being spent, we can provide this information on a regular basis.
How does it work for the individual?
For every £1.00 that you earn, 22p (on the normal tax rate) will go on tax. If you pledge a gift to a charity then the tax is not deducted by the Inland Revenue. Although it only costs you 77p the charity receives £1.00.

How do I arrange it?
It couldn't be simpler: Fill in the Payroll Giving form, available to download from the Payroll Giving section on the Help the Aged website, and we'll do the rest.
What happens if I change jobs?
At the moment payroll giving cannot be transferred between companies so when you start your new job you will need to inform your new employer. However, automatic transfer is something we're developing for the near future.
Do I have to commit for a long time?
No. If your circumstances change and you no longer wish to donate through your pay, inform your employer that you want the payments to cease.
How does it work for the company?
For a company to offer payroll giving to its employees they have to be registered with a Payroll Giving Agency, the numbers of the larger ones are listed below. They will take you through the process of setting up the scheme. It should take no longer than 10 –15 minutes per month to run, although the initial set-up may take slightly longer.
How are donors recruited? Payroll giving promotions are carried out by Professional Fundraising Organisations (PFOs). Canvassers from the organisations give presentations to employees on payroll giving in general, the donor can then choose to give to any registered charity of their choice. Alternatively a donor can choose to give to a charity without a canvas, in the case of Help the Aged this would involve filling in the attached form and either passing it on to their payroll department or posting it back to the Charity who would then process it.

Healthy Futures - Improving quality in later life
The Healthy Futures consortium allows donors to donate money towards the work of both Help the Aged and Research into Ageing. This scheme runs independently of the Help the Aged scheme. Money donated to Healthy Futures is divided equally between the socially orientated work of Help the Aged and the biomedical research of Research into Ageing, a special trust within Help the Aged.
