A happy Christmas

Every Christmas, staff volunteers in Bloomberg’s City of London offices organise a fantastic party for local older people.

In 2006 the party had a Hollywood theme. Attendees were wowed by the film-themed décor, entertained by a live jazz band and waited on attentively by Bloomberg employees.

For many older people this party was the only chance they had to mix with others and celebrate the festive season.

The event was part of Bloomberg's Global Volunteering Week, which offers staff around the world the chance to get involved with community projects. By volunteering their time, hundreds of employees were able to make a huge difference to a variety of causes.   
  
To complement this activity Bloomberg also made a donation towards the Help the Aged Christmas Grants Programme, which provides funding to community groups to lay on Christmas meals and parties for older people who may otherwise do nothing at all to mark this very time of year.
